Alleged hotel breakfast thief gets arrested

A man accused of going into a Dunwoody hotel only to steal breakfast was arrested this week when he returned to the same hotel, again for breakfast, police said Wednesday.

Roche Harris, 36, of East Point, was arrested Sunday and charged with impersonation of a police officer, simple battery, theft by taking, and loitering and prowling, Officer Tim Fecht with Dunwoody police said.

Beginning in December, Harris visited the Staybridge Hotel on Ridgeview Road in order to obtain the free continental breakfast, but was not a guest or staying at the hotel, Fecht said. Hotel staff confronted Harris, who then allegedly threw hot water in the manager's face.

Then in February, Harris posed as a law enforcement officer by displaying a badge, according to police. Investigators issued a "lookout" for a man matching the suspect's description.

On Sunday, Harris allegedly returned to the Staybridge and again began taking food from the continental breakfast, and this time, hotel employees called 911, Fecht said. Officers arrived on scene and arrested Harris without incident.
