An alleged gang member from Conyers who had been on the run since April was arrested Sunday night in New Orleans.
Shauntay Lamarr Craig, 38, an alleged leader of the Gangster Disciples, was taken into custody by the FBI and local sheriff’s deputies. He was scheduled to appear before a judge Monday.
Craig, known as “Shake,” was wanted for his involvement in the gang, whose reach extends across the country. The Gangster Disciples are believed to be responsible for numerous murders and robberies, as well as extortion plots and drug trafficking, according to an FBI statement.
Fifty alleged members of the gang were indicted in April. Craig was indicted on federal racketeering charges April 28 by a federal grand jury in the U.S. District Court in Atlanta. He is the last of the indicted group to be arrested, according to the statement.
Another alleged member from Georgia, Alvis O'Neal, 38, was arrested in Colorado in June on similar charges.
