A fire damaged nine apartments in College Park on New Year's Eve.

About 30 people were displaced New Year’s Eve after an apartment building caught on fire in College Park, becoming the second devastating blaze within the past 24 hours in metro Atlanta.

Nine units at the Life at Harrington Park apartments at 2800 Camp Creek Parkway were damaged Tuesday during the fire, according to a news release by the American Red Cross. It’s unclear if anyone was injured. AJC.com has reached out to the College Park Fire Department for more information.

The Red Cross is assisting the people who no longer have a place to live by providing lodging, clothing and food, the release said.

The nonprofit was also called to assist 29 people Monday night after a fire at a Gwinnett County apartment complex partially collapsed a 10-unit building, AJC.com previously reported.

Gwinnett fire spokesman Donald Strother said crews responded to the Landmark at Bella Vista Apartment Homes about 8:30 p.m. after multiple people called 911 to report the flames.

Two people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a third was assessed at the scene. Due to the heat and the building’s structural instability, firefighters were not able to inspect the wreckage for hours after they arrived, Strother said.

The building was not structurally stable enough for fire crews to go inside while battling the blaze.
