People in a DeKalb County neighborhood were surprised to learn that more than 400 marijuana plants were seized by the GBI from a warehouse in Avondale Estates Tuesday.

"It's amazing,” Tim Delany, who works near the warehouse, told Channel 2 Action News. “It's a quiet street. It's a little industrial area. Police officers come through all the time. Everybody knows everybody.”

GBI agent Joe Chesnut said the grow operation had an automated watering system and liquid fertilizer. There were several varieties of plants that were cultivated for different tastes.

The GBI found the warehouse after an agent got a tip, established surveillance and got enough evidence to secure a warrant.

Aside from the pot plants, authorities said they came away with information about who was in charge of the operation. No arrests were announced.
