A man found dead at a Hall County hotel had been stabbed multiple times, Gainesville police said Monday afternoon.

Harmon V. Lavender, 52, of Gainesville, was found dead Saturday afternoon inside a room of the Sun Suites hotel on Jesse Jewell Parkway, according to police. An employee of the extended-stay hotel found the body and called police around 2 p.m.

Late Sunday, Gainesville police asked for the public’s help in locating a man possibly connected to the case, Jose Garcia-Flores, also of Gainesville. Garcia-Flores has been located, but no details were released Monday about his possible involvement.

An autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab determined that Lavender died from multiple stab founds, police said Monday.

“Based upon the investigation, we feel confident that this is an isolated incident,” Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said in an emailed statement.

The homicide remains under investigation.
