Hapeville police are searching for an “armed and dangerous” man after the stolen car he was in Wednesday afternoon crashed into two vehicles, including a patrol car, authorities said.

A license plate reader detected a stolen car out of Atlanta entering Hapeville around 2:30 p.m., Hapeville police wrote in a Facebook post.

The driver deliberately rammed into one of the patrol cars when officers pursued the stolen vehicle, police said. While fleeing, the driver crashed into a second vehicle and caused injuries. The extent of those injuries was not released. AJC.com has reached out for more information.

The driver then ran away but was captured when he boarded a MARTA bus, police said.

The passenger in the stolen vehicle is still at large, and he was last seen wearing a white shirt, black pants and no shoes, according to authorities. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
