A 19-year-old man found dead outside a Gwinnett County apartment complex likely was killed over marijuana, police said Thursday.

A resident of the Reserve at Ivy Creek apartments, near the Mall of Georgia, called police around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after hearing gunshots outside of his apartment, according to Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County police.

Officers arrived, finding the body of Trevon Watson on the ground, Smith said. A small amount of marijuana was found near Watson, who appeared to have been shot, police said.

Later Wednesday night, investigators identified a suspect and arrested 22-year-old Michael Thomas Clark, of Lawrenceville, Smith said. He was booked in to the Gwinnett County jail early Thursday, records show.

Clark has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He remained in custody Thursday without bond.
