DeKalb prosecutors are moving ahead with their child exploitation case against a Sandy Springs doctor who pleaded guilty to similar charges in Fulton County.

Dr. Kelly Burton Thrasher was indicted Friday in DeKalb on child exploitation charges. Four sexually suggestive photos were found on his laptop, according to a warrant taken out by DeKalb police.

The indictment parallels a case in Fulton County involving the November 2012 assault of an underage girl. In that case, Thrasher pleaded guilty to child molestation and aggravated assault and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The DeKalb case involves a 5-year-old child, Capt. Stephen Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The warrant indicated the photographs were taken at a home in Tucker between May 10 and May 11. The victim was the child of a former employee of Thrasher and appeared to be asleep when the pictures were taken, according to the warrant.

He is scheduled to plead guilty or not guilty before Superior Court Judge Linda Hunter Feb. 27.

Thrasher was first arrested Jan. 24, 2013 on the Fulton charges after his release from the Ridgeview Medical Center, where he entered himself after detectives initiated a criminal investigation into the 2012 molestation complaint, according to police.
