Concert to benefit attorney shot 8 times

A concert planned for Tuesday night in Atlanta will benefit an attorney recovering from being shot eight times in front of her Sandy Springs apartment.

“A Concert for Adina” will be held at Center Stage at 8 p.m. to help Adina Parson, a 40-year-old state public health attorney who was critically injured in the April shooting. Friends, family members and colleagues organized the benefit to assist with medical and therapy bills.

Parson’s husband, Michael Parson, is accused of shooting her and remains in the Fulton County jail, without bond.

After spending several weeks at Grady Memorial Hospital, Adina Parson was moved to the Shepherd Center for rehabilitation. Last month, she was released from the center and is currently living with a relative as she continues to recover.

On Monday, her former supervisor at the state department of public health said Adina Parson continues to thrive.

“She is not a quitter, she keeps fighting,” Sid Barrett told Channel 2 Action News. ““She’s still the lady we worked with, still the lady we loved.”

Barrett said Adina Parson is slowly regaining control of her body and speech functions.

Tuesday’s event will feature members of the Atlanta Institute of Music All-Star Monster Band. The venue has donated the space and the performers are donating their time, Barrett said. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20.

More information about the concert is available on Facebook.
