The man who was killed by a car Sunday when walking on Windy Hill Road has been identified, Cobb police said.

A family member identified the man as Corey L. Gordon, 42, of Marietta, Sgt. Dana Pierce said Friday.

Investigators determined that Gordon was killed when he tried to "abruptly" cross the road and was hit by an eastbound Ford Crown Victoria, Pierce said. Gordon died at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Police don’t expect to charge the driver of the car, Pierce said.
