A suspicious package at a cell phone store temporarily closed a portion of Cobb Parkway near Cumberland Mall during the afternoon rush hour Wednesday.

The package was found at the AT&T store, located in a shopping center near the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill Road, around 4 p.m. All lanes of Cobb Parkway, also known as U.S. 41, were blocked in both directions, but later re-opened about two hours later.

A bomb squad arrived at scene shortly after 4 p.m., according to the Cobb County fire department. Cobb police declined to release additional details due to the active investigation.

Robots were used to blow up the package shortly before 6 p.m., Channel 2 Action News reported.
