A 19-year-old Cobb County woman is among three people accused of running a major methamphetamine operation in northwest Georgia, according to police.
During a month-long investigation, undercover deputies purchased large quantities of meth, leading to arrest warrants for three, the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Tuesday, Jana Diane Bishop, 25, of Chatsworth, was arrested after arriving at a secluded location to meet an undercover officer, the sheriff’s office said. On Wednesday, deputies arrested Mackenzie G. Dare, 19, of Marietta, when she also arrived to meet an officer. Arrest warrants have been issued for a third person, whose name was not released and who was not in custody.
"Deputies assigned to the case describe Bishop and Dare as the 'principle defendants' and have reason to believe that the two women were involved in the distribution of methamphetamine on a wide scale in Gordon County for some time," the sheriff's office stated on its website. "During the course of this investigation, deputies seized over $8,000 worth of processed methamphetamine packaged for resale."
Bishop and Dare have both been charged with conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, and sale of methamphetamine. Both woman were being held without bond Friday night in the Gordon County jail.
