Clouds, afternoon traffic on tap for New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve promises to be partly cloudy and cold across metro Atlanta.
The forecast calls for more clouds to the south than the north, with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s, said Karen Minton, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist.
“Ringing in the New Year will be chilly,” she said. “But no rain this year, it will just be cold and dry.”
By midnight the temperature is expected to be in the high 30s, she said.
The morning commute was extremely light, but volume is expected to pick up in the afternoon, said Mark Arum, Channel 2 Action News traffic reporter.
“We could see some delays on I-75/85 this evening around 5 p.m. or 6 p.m., as people head downtown for the Peach Drop and the bowl game,” he said. “I don’t expect major delays, but parking could be an issue.”
Arum suggests people headed downtown take MARTA to avoid parking headaches.
