The good news is the weather will be terrific this weekend, with sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the mid-60s by Sunday.

The bad news is that road crews will be taking advantage of the great weather, closing multiple lanes at numerous spots around the Perimeter and on I-20.

Here’s what you need to know to avoid what the Georgia Department of Transportation warns could be big delays:

Sign work to block Perimeter lanes

Work on sign structures will close three lanes of I-285 westbound from New Northside Drive to I-75, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Saturday.

Sign work will also close two westbound lanes of I-285 between Northlake Parkway and Chamblee Tucker Road and one eastbound lane between New Northside Drive and Lavista Road from 7:30 pm. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

More sign work will block two northbound lanes of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road and Cobb Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday.

On the southwest quadrant of the Perimeter, sign work will block two northbound lanes between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Hollowell Parkway and one southbound lane between I-20 and Cascade Road throughout the weekend.

Bridge joint repairs will block two eastbound lanes of I-20 between Fulton Industrial Boulevard and I-285 all weekend.

Weekend to be sunny and warm

Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton is forecasting lot of sunshine this weekend, with highs reaching 59 degrees Saturday and 65 Sunday.

Lows will be around 34 early Saturday and 42 Sunday.

Atlanta’s normal high for early February is 55, the normal low 36.

Hawks, comedy and Christian music highlight weekend events

The Hawks play the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Philips Arena, while the arena hosts the comedy of Katt Williams for shows at 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday.

Next door at the Georgia Dome, the Winter Jam Christian music tour makes a stop in Atlanta with a concert that begins at 6 p.m. Saturday.

In Midtown, the annual Groundhog Day Juggling Festival will be held Friday through Sunday at the Yaarab Shrine Center Auditorium at 400 Ponce de Leon Avenue.
