A 64-year-old Woodstock man who sheriff’s investigators say established a relationship with a 13-year-old fellow church member was behind bars Wednesday, charged with sexual battery.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said Shogut Hussien was arrested Tuesday and faces one count of child molestation and two counts of sexual battery.
Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said Hussien and the alleged victim attended a Woodstock church, where Hussien drove the teenager to youth activities. He also worked around the victim’s family home.
“The alleged crime took place at his Woodstock home, and there is no current indication that a crime occurred on church property,” Baker said in a statement. The church was not identified.
Hussien remained in the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without bond.
The spokesman said investigators have not ruled out the possibility of other alleged victims and is encouraging anyone with information to contact the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
