Three people have been charged with a double shooting that killed a Cobb County man at a Norcross-area apartment complex, police said Wednesday.

Jovian Lanus, 26, Tyler Estrada, 18, and Diara Hood, 22, have been charged with murder and armed robbery in the July 29 shooting that killed Steven Carden, 28, of Marietta, and injured Thomas Smith, 28, of Powder Springs, Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County police said. Lanus has also been charged with aggravated assault, Smith said.

Police identified the three suspects in the weeks following the shooting, and earlier this month, Hood and Estrada were located in the DeKalb County jail, where they were being held on unrelated charges. On Nov. 8, a SWAT team arrested Lanus at a Snellville-area home, police said.

Thomas Smith and Carden were walking outside the Celadon apartment complex near Norcross around 7 a.m. when they were seen talking to two other men, police previously said. Neither victim lived in the complex and police have not released details about why the two were in the area.

Officers were called to the complex on a report of a “person down,” and arrived to find Carden dead from a gunshot wound. Smith, who was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with head trauma, survived the attack.

All three suspects were being held Wednesday without bond.
