Water customers in Carrollton are under a boil water advisory until further notice, the city said Thursday afternoon.

The advisory was issued after a water main break temporarily left thousands without water Wednesday, Carrollton officials said.

The break caused pressure in parts of the city’s water system to drop to “dangerously low levels.”

Officials said the break has been repaired and the “water system pressure is completely restored.”

However, mandatory water sampling takes more than 24 hours to complete, the city said.

To protect the public from a potential health hazard, city water customers are advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food.

Water should be boiled at least one minute after reaching a bubbling boil.
