A man accused of exposing himself at a bus stop could be linked to other crimes, DeKalb County police said Friday.
The most recent incident happened June 6 around 11:45 p.m., when a woman told police a man approached her while she was at a bus stop at the intersection of Covington Highway and Mercer Drive, according to Mekka Parish, police spokeswoman.
“The man attempted to engage her in a conversation and when she turned to address him, she observed him committing a sexual act,” Parish said in an emailed statement.
The woman left the bus stop and called police, who searched the area with the help of a police dog, but did not locate the suspect, Parish said. Investigators hope a sketch released Friday helps identify the suspect.
Police also want to determine if this suspect had a role in two previous attempted sexual assaults that occurred nearby at the Marquis Ridge Apartment Complex.
On May 31 around 4 a.m., a suspect entered an apartment through an open window, found two female victims asleep on the couch and then performed a sexual act in front of them, Parish said. The victims, ages 28 and 30, screamed as they awoke and the man left, according to police.
Then on June 3, around 4:40 p.m., a 10-year-old girl was asleep in her bedroom in an apartment and awoke to a man standing in front of her performing a sexual act, police said. The victim screamed and ran to alert her parents in another area of the apartment. The suspect gained access to this apartment through an open window.
