UGA fan Steve Rodgers was heartbroken after the Bulldogs' 24-19 loss to the University of Nebraska in the Gator Bowl.

Rather than hurl a few expletives, he decided to release his frustration another way.

“Hey, Bulldogs fans,” Rodgers said before lighting a gasoline-doused UGA flag. “I just want to wish you a Happy New Year.”

Rodgers had just returned to his Jacksonville home with longtime friend and fellow UGA fan Chad Mullarkey, who videotaped the flag burning.

“He’ll buy a new one for next season,” Mullarkey told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “This encapsulated the season that Georgia has had this year. We’ve just had so many heartbreaking losses over the past couple of years.”

Toward the end of the video, Rodgers tried to look on the bright side.

"At least we didn't lose to Georgia Southern," he said.
