He’s become the center of murals across the country and captured the hearts of “Star Wars” fans across the globe. Now Build-A-Bear will jump on the Baby Yoda craze with new soft, stuffed versions of “The Mandalorian” character.
The toy company’s CEO Sharon Price John announced the news Tuesday during the ICR Conference in Orlando, Florida. The “Star Wars” show, which streams on Disney Plus, debuted in November, and fans have been buying up Baby Yoda action figures and other merchandise ever since.
John told the conference audience plans to create a Build-A-Bear Baby Yoda have been in place since the first episode.
“I’m excited to share we will be one of the first companies to provide the digital and internet phenomenon who is trending higher than all the presidential candidates combined,”John said Tuesday, according to a report by Business Insider. “We now will have The Child, also known as Baby Yoda,” John added.
The move to add the more adolescent animated character to Build-A-Bear’s roster is strategic, John said Tuesday. The aim would be drawing the tweens, teens and even adults to shop and build their favorite characters at shops around the country. Traditionally, the mall toy store is geared toward the little ones.
Several adult fans on Twitter proved John’s theory was correct, with many stating their plans to build a Baby Yoda as soon as the opportunity presents.
