A recent undercover sting resulted in a Brookhaven man being charged with attempted child molestation and furnishing obscene material to a minor.

Brookhaven Police Department spokesman Officer Carlos Nino said undercover detectives from his agency arrested 55-year-old Gregory Stott following an online sting.

“Through undercover investigation of Internet file sharing networks, investigators were able to determine that Gregory Stott was soliciting sex online (and) targeting young girls,” Nino said in a news release Wednesday. “During the investigation, Brookhaven police detectives posed as an underage girl for a period of two weeks until Gregory Stott wanted to meet.”

On the meeting date, Nino said, Stott drove to the prearranged location and was detained without incident.

No further information was released regarding the March 21 arrest.
