Homicide units are investigating after a man was shot and killed in the parking deck of a downtown Atlanta hotel Saturday afternoon, police said.

The victim was shot multiple times in the parking deck at 400 West Peachtree St., which belongs to the Twelve hotel.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him Sunday as 28-year-old Bernard Gibson.

A preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone wrong shortly after 4 p.m., police department spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said.
