One person is dead and three others are injured after a stabbing near a Bakersfield, California, high school Tuesday, according to several media reports.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office told the media that the stabbing occurred about 2:38 p.m. Tuesday in an area of Foothill Road and Morning Drive. The sheriff's office said one person has been detained in connection to the deadly stabbing outside of Foothill High School.

Foothill High School, which is close to the site of the stabbing, was placed on lockdown for about an hour, but as of about 3:45 p.m. PST the lockdown had been lifted.
