A 5-year-old boy was flown to a metro Atlanta hospital after a near-drowning in Hall County, officials said.

When authorities got to the scene at the intersection of Meadowland Way and Grandview Parkway about 3 p.m. Sunday, a bystander had already pulled the child from a community pool in the southern part of the county, Hall fire spokesman Zach Brackett told Channel 2 Action News.

The boy was not breathing. The bystander, who is trained as a lifeguard, immediately performed CPR on the child.

“After several rounds of CPR,” Brackett said, “the child regained consciousness.”

The child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. His condition has not been released.
