Wreck involving National Guard vehicle in Atlanta lands 3 guardsmen in hospital
A wreck on I-75 South in Atlanta landed four people in the hospital, including three members of the Georgia National Guard, authorities said.
About 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe lost control and struck a National Guard vehicle on the interstate near the Mt. Paran Road exit, according to the Georgia State Patrol. After the initial impact, the Tahoe crossed over several lanes, striking a SUV.
The driver of the Tahoe and three guardsmen were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, the GSP said. Their injuries and conditions were not provided.
Troopers said charges will not be filed in this accident. No other information on the investigation was provided.
The National Guard has been deployed in Georgia since Saturday following violent protests the night before, AJC.com previously reported. Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency through next weekend, allowing up to 3,000 guardsmen to assist police during protests.
