Weatherford wins GOP nod in Cobb

Bob Weatherford, an Acworth city councilman for 12 years, has won the Republican nomination for the Cobb County Commission District 1 seat. Weatherford defeated former Cobb Commission Chairman Bill Byrne in Tuesday’s Republican primary runoff.

Cobb Commissioner Helen Goreham announced late last year that she would not seek re-election. Byrne and Weatherford survived a five-candidate field seeking the nomination to square off in Tuesday’s runoff. Weatherford will face Democrat Derrick Crump in November.
