A 55-year-old man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl.

Craig Alan Ellett, of Tucker, was convicted of aggravated sodomy and aggravated child molestation by a Cobb County jury today. He was sentenced to life with 30 years to serve, followed by sex-offender restrictions and probation until he dies, according to a news release from D. Victor Reynolds, Cobb County district attorney.

During the trial the victim, who is now 6, testified that the man she called “Pops” molested her in February 2013. The girl, who is the granddaughter of Ellett’s girlfriend, “gave sensory details that a 5-year-old wouldn’t have known unless she experienced it,” Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Odom said in a prepared statement.

Ellett, who has been in jail since his arrest in March, pleaded guilty in 1996 to child molestation charges in California, according to the news release.
