Tim Lee did something very smart when he secretly hired big-time lawyer Dan McRae to negotiate the Braves stadium deal: He had the confirmation email sent from a private account. That meant it couldn’t be found through an Open Records request.

Then Lee did something not so smart: He cut McRae out of the lucrative legal work that came later, once the deal was done.

But McRae apparently outfoxed him, putting the original email in a place where the AJC could find it.
