A former Forsyth County teacher faces felony sexual assault charges after authorities say he had a relationship with a 17-year-old student.

John David Ubriaco, 33, was charged Feb. 24, three days after he resigned from his position as a math teacher at Lambert High School, Forsyth sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Douglas Rainwater said.

Ubriaco had been teaching in the school system since August.

Officials did not say when the alleged assault took place.

He is being held in the Forsyth County jail without bond.
