A busy Buckhead intersection was shut down Friday morning after an SUV crashed into the front of an apartment building.

Authorities closed lanes on Piedmont Road at Lenox Road while they removed the wrecked vehicle from the Axial Buckhead apartment complex. The intersection reopened quickly and there were no major impacts to traffic, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

The driver, who was not identified, may have been impaired, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty told AJC.com.

“It does appear that alcohol played a factor in the accident,” he said.

The driver was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and charged with reckless driving, DUI and failure to maintain lane, according to police.
