The DeKalb County School District is ending school early for students as they continue learning from home amid the coronavirus pandemic, officials said Tuesday.

The district is expected to lay out plans for calculating final grades, doing student promotions, end-of-year activities and transitioning to summer learning.

School districts began closing around March 12 to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, which has affected more than 12,000 Georgians and more than 500 deaths.

Since then, learning has largely taken place online, pivoting to digital learning portals mostly used previously for inclement weather.
