The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and the Griffin Police Department Wednesday arrested 44 people for illegal drug activity.

The arrests resulted from a four-month investigation by the sheriff’s and police narcotics units.

The investigation found that drugs from Spalding were being distributed from north Georgia to southern Alabama.

Methamphetamine and GHB (commonly known as the date rape drug), were the main focus of the probe.

Three of the people charged with violations are now in prison and were conducting drug activity from inside.
