Torre Poole said his parents always talked through any issues they had.
It’s why he was stunned to find out his father, Darryl Chandler, is accused of murdering his mother Brenda inside their Kennesaw home.
“She had done so much for him,” Poole told Channel 2 Action News. “He would have done anything to protect her.”
The couple had been married for two decades.
According to arrest warrants obtained by Channel 2, Darryl Chandler, 61, allegedly beat and stabbed his wife. She was also cut around the neck and chest area, the station reported.
Neighbors told police they smelled a strong gasoline odor and called the gas company to investigate. Workers were led to the Chandlers’ duplex along Lake Mist Drive.
When Chandler refused to let them in, police were called.
It was later discovered, according to the arrest warrant, that Darryl Chandler allegedly filled the home with gasoline in an attempt to burn it down with Brenda Chandler still inside.

When police detained him, they found two lighters in his pocket, Channel 2 reported.
He faces murder, aggravated assault and arson charges.
Poole must now plan his mother’s funeral while grappling with the allegations against his father.
He told Channel 2 his mom never indicated to the family any signs of trouble.
“(I) talked to her on a daily basis,” he said. “If there was anything she expressed to us, on a drop of a dime, we would be there making sure she’s taken care of.”
Neighbors told Channel 2 the Chandlers had lived in the area for years and were mild-mannered.
"You see them come and go. They drove nice cars and you just thought they were a nice couple," neighbor James Crowe said.
Poole said mom’s co-workers and friends have been comforting him.
“I’m still receiving emails and texts from co-workers who talk about her as a second mom,” he said. “It’s rare to find someone so pure and so special and everyone knows.”
