A University of South Carolina student has some explaining to do after her recent weekend visit to Athens.

Alysa DeLuca, 23, reported to Athens-Clarke police she had been assaulted and robbed near downtown Athens on Sept. 8 after she attended the Carolina-UGA football game, according to a report on onlineathens.com.

Police told the website they investigated the woman’s claims of being knocked unconscious from behind and having her purse snatched while she was in a stairwell of a building on Broad Street.

That is until her purse was found in a downtown bar where she had been hanging out earlier in the evening.

Now police have taken out a warrant for DeLuca’s arrest for lying, also known as false report of a crime.
