The body found inside a trash can was identified Tuesday as that of a 41-year-old Atlanta woman, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Tyna Bass was found wrapped in a blanket inside a curbside trash can by a man walking his dog around 5:15 p.m. Monday at Highland Avenue and Howell Street, according to Atlanta police.

Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton said the woman’s body was discovered inside of a “Herby Curby” — the style of trash can typically used for residential curbside disposal — near Atlanta Medical Center and the recently opened Freedom Barkway Dog Park.

The ME’s office declined to release a cause of death for Bass until her family was notified.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Atlanta police homicide unit at 404-546-4235 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS.
