Investigators believe a Gwinnett County man killed his wife and then dumped her body behind the Lawrenceville business where he worked.

The manager of the Express Oil Change on Pike Street called police Thursday afternoon after noticing a peculiar smell in the area, Channel 2 Action News reported. A woman’s body was found in the woods behind the business around 2 p.m.

The remains may have been in the woods on West Pike Street for several days, investigators believe.

Police later identified the remains as those of Yamilet Rodriquez, last seen alive Oct. 6.

On Oct. 12, Fernando Guzman-Perez reported his wife missing, according to police. Thursday night, he was charged with her murder, police said. Guzman-Perez worked at the Express Oil Change, Channel 2 reported.

The family’s Lawrenceville apartment was searched late Thursday.

Guzman-Perez was booked into the Gwinnett jail, records showed.
