Police: Man dies after hitting unoccupied vehicle on I-85 in Gwinnett

A 22-year-old man died Monday morning after he hit an unoccupied vehicle on the right shoulder of I-85 North in Gwinnett County, authorities said.

Clayton Dickie of Buford was driving a GMC Sierra north on I-85 near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road before the incident, Gwinnett police said in a news release. At some point, his vehicle left the roadway and hit the unoccupied vehicle, with both catching on fire.

Clayton was found dead at the scene, police said. It’s unknown whether he died as a result of the fire or the collision.

Investigators are working to identify the owner of the unoccupied vehicle.
