Police have increased patrols at school bus stops following a Roswell kidnap attempt on Friday in which a man tried to grab a 12-year-old-girl.

"We were out there this morning at the bus stops," Roswell Police spokeswoman Lisa Holland told Channel 2 Action News on Monday. "We will continue doing that this week."

In the meantime, police are asking parents to escort their children to the bus stops and wait with them.

"Parents need to be vigilant and alert," Holland said.

Friday morning, police said a man drove next to a girl walking along Old Holcomb Bridge Road to her bus stop and demanded that she get in the car with him.

The girl backed away from the driver, and a woman who saw the incident escorted the girl to the bus stop and reported the attempt, authorities said.

Investigators don't have any leads at this time, but said the man was a dark-skinned, clean-shaven black man in his 30s with a short haircut driving an older model, four-door Honda with a red sticker near the gas cap.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Dana DeWeese at 770-640-4279.
