Cobb County police have identified a man who died in a car wreck Sunday morning as Antiowan V. Washington, 33, of Smyrna.

Authorities believe Washington died after his tan 1999 GMC Yukon hit several construction barrels while traveling on I-285 eastbound near Cobb Parkway around 7:20 a.m. Sunday.

Police say it’s unclear why Washington, who was not wearing a seat-belt, veered off the interstate and into a construction site between the I-285 and I-75 ramp lanes.

Washington was discovered, deceased, by an off-duty EMS worker, according to Cobb County Police spokesman Dana Pierce.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 770-499-3987.
