A Conyers woman arrested for burglary used her small child to break into her neighbor’s home through a doggie door, police said.

Rockdale County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cheryl Keele, 25, Wednesday after the victim turned over a videotape of the burglary. The video showed Keele’s son climbing through the doggie door to unlock the back door for Keele, according to a Rockdale County Sheriff’s Dept. report.

The boy is around 5 or 6 years old, Rockdale Investigator Michael Camp said.

The victim installed the security camera a week ago when she found her handgun missing, she told deputies. Several other items, including prescription medicine, had gone missing from her home the last few months. She told deputies that even though she locks her doors before leaving for work, she often returned home to find the back door unlocked.

She suspected the missing items had been stolen.

She found the back door open again last Saturday and tried to check the security feed, but the camera was missing as well, she said. She was able to access the feed from a computer.

When deputies arrested Keele, the report said, they found the security camera in her home.

Keele is being held in the Rockdale County jail.
