Officials are investigating a deadly train collision in South Fulton on Monday morning.

It appears the victim tried to run across the railroad tracks at the intersection of Roosevelt Highway and Mallory Road and was hit by an oncoming train, South Fulton police spokesman Lt. Derrick Rogers said.

The adult victim, whose name was not released, was dead at the scene about 7 a.m.

Both police and CSX Transportation officials are investigating, Rogers said. No further information was released.

The intersection is about two miles from the site of another deadly train collision. In 2018, three people in a Chevrolet Impala were killed at the crossing at Roosevelt Highway and Buffington Road when a witness said the Chevy tried to beat a train, AJC.com previously reported.
