A pedestrian was struck and killed before daybreak Wednesday in north Cobb County.

The accident happened about 5:45 a.m. along southbound Cobb Parkway, just south of Mack Dobbs Road, Kennesaw police spokesman Officer Scott Luther said.

The unidentified 46-year-old man died at the scene, police said. The driver remained on site and was not injured.

Police said a tan 2006 Ford Taurus was traveling southbound on Cobb Parkway in the same direction the pedestrian was walking. The man was walking in the roadway, and not on the grass shoulder, when he was struck by the car, according to a news release from Kennesaw police.

No charges are expected to be filed, but the incident remains under investigation.

The incident was the second fatal pedestrian accident on that stretch of Cobb Parkway in recent months.

Last September, a 20-year-old woman died after being hit by a car on Cobb Parkway southbound between Mack Dobbs and Pine Mountain roads.
