Organizer of local Ferguson protests arrested at Atlantic Station

One person was arrested Saturday during a protest at Atlantic Station over the decision by a Missouri grand jury not to indict a white police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager.

A leading member of this week’s Atlanta protests, Aurielle M. Lucier, 19, was arrested on a misdemeanor trespassing charge. She was released Sunday on a $1,000 signature bond, according to Fulton County Jail records. Attempts to reach Lucier on Sunday were not immediately successful.

Protests over the killing of Missouri teenager Michael Brown and a grand jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson continue across the nation, including in Atlanta. Lucier was arrested Saturday by an off-duty Atlanta police officer after she was asked to leave the complex, Sgt. Gregory Lyon said.

Atlantic Station is open to the public but it is considered private property and protests of any kind are prohibited on site, a property spokesman said.
