One person was killed in an car crash involving four cars that shut down all lanes of I-75/85 northbound, just south of the 17th Street bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Atlanta police spokesman Kim Jones said three occupants were ejected from one of the vehicles. She said one person had died in the accident that happened early Saturday afternoon.

Northbound traffic was backed up for miles most of the afternoon as police and fire officials investigated the accident. A white SUV was seen flipped on its side. What appeared to be a body could be seen under an orange tarp near the SUV.

David Dweyer told Channel 2 Action News said his truck overheated while he was sitting in the gridlock. “We got on at Freedom Parkway and it was already locked up. Traffic was not moving,”
