Though the chances are slim, Georgia residents now have an opportunity to possibly turn a $1 purchase into a $270 million prize.
That’s the current Mega Millions jackpot, which has rolled 17 times since Jan. 7 and will be drawn tonight.
Players have about a 1 in 14 chance of winning any sort of prize and a 1 in 259 million chance of hitting the jackpot in the multi-state drawing.
If you are lucky enough to win, the Mega Millions jackpot have two payment options: $270 million paid out as one single immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, or a $151 million cash option, Georgia Lottery said.
Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11 p.m. at WSB-TV.
Those who spend an additional $1 on a lottery ticket can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by up to five times through the Megaplier option.
Proceeds from Mega Millions go toward improving the state of education in Georgia, according to Georgia Lottery.
