A man who fatally shot a person he thought was breaking into his car Wednesday night is being charged with murder, police said.
Quintavious Judon, 26, was dining at Fletcher's Bar and Grill at South DeKalb Mall just after 11 p.m., when he saw a man attempting to enter his red Dodge Charger, which was in the parking lot, DeKalb County Police spokesman Capt. Stephen Fore said.
Judson went outside and confronted the man at his car, Fore said.
An altercation ensued and police say Judon pulled a gun and shot the suspect. The suspect tried to flee in a vehicle, but collapsed as he drove across the parking lot and wrecked the car, Fore said.
The would-be thief was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died of his gunshot wound, police said.
Judon told police he was defending himself, Channel 2 Action News reported. Police said he was arrested and charged with murder.
Authorities have not named the dead man because he has not been positively identified and his next of kin haven't been notified, Fore said.
An investigation is ongoing.
