A man was found dead at his Troup County home on Saturday during a police welfare check.

Jerry Lee Folds, 39, of Franklin, appeared to be the victim of foul play, according to Troup County Sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Stewart Smith.

Deputies went to Folds’ home in the 3100 block of Hammett Road around 5:00 a.m. Saturday deputies on a missing persons call. Deputies found Folds’ body on the property.

The GBI helped investigators process the crime scene and the victim was transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death,Smith said.

No suspect information was available early Sunday, according to Smith.

Troup County is about an hour southwest of Atlanta.
