Police said the man fired two shots above a teller's head.

Gwinnett County investigators said an attempted armed robber made a getaway on a bicycle after firing shots inside a check-cashing business.

Now, they’re trying to track him down.

Police on June 4 responded to a robbery call at the Dollar Express on South Norcross Tucker Road, according to an incident report.

A teller told officers the armed man came into the store and told her to kneel on the ground, the report said.

“(The teller) stated that the suspect told her to not get up or she was going to die,” the incident report said.

The man shoved a folded paper bag toward another teller and told her to fill it with money. She hid under the counter and pressed the store’s panic alarm, the incident report said. Then, she saw the man fire two shots over her kneeling coworker’s head.

The man kept asking for money, but ultimately ran out of the store empty-handed, police said.

Investigators said the bicycle the man reportedly fled on was in the front of the store during the incident. The suspect was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a flannel shirt and dark pants.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with details on the incident is asked to contact Gwinnett police. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
