One man is dead and another is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide after a head-on collision in Gwinnett County.

Chequan Burkett is also charged with failure to maintain lane in the Monday morning crash that killed Min Kim, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said Tuesday in a news release.

Pihera said the wreck happened when Burkett veered into oncoming traffic at the intersection of Jones Mill Spur and Peachtree Corners Circle.

Burkett, 25, of Peachtree Corners, was driving north on Peachtree Corners Circle about 11:15 a.m., she said.

Burkett told police that as he approached the intersection of Jones Mill Spur, a vehicle in front of him slammed on the brakes. That caused him to swerve into oncoming traffic, he told investigators.
