A group of Georgia lawmakers are expected to recommend that transit providers in metro Atlanta work together to create a single website where commuters can go to plan cross-town trips.

State Sen. Brandon Beach, who heads a Senate subcommittee on public transportation, said that an information technology executive and logistics expert from UPS has volunteered his time to help create the website. The region’s four transit providers are Cobb County Transit, Gwinnett County Transit, MARTA and GRTA.

Beach said he will recommend the passage of a resolution to create the single website at the subcommittee’s final meeting on Tuesday morning.

Beach, a Republican from Alpharetta, has been leading the effort to streamline the four separate transit systems for several months.

Over the summer, he created a video documenting a transit journey from Kennesaw to Gwinnett Arena in Duluth to show how unreasonably long it takes. His trip clocked in at a whopping three hours, 35 minutes.
